BKS I 2022 Rally

 

So our Anniversary Rally has been and gone, but what great memories remain.

 

Due to increased security measures as a result of the conflict in Europe, the event had to moved at short notice from the barracks in Inverness to Dingwall – 15 miles down the road. However, this proved to be a great location and did not impact the overall success of the Rally in any way.

 

The Rally was well attended with 112 Blue Knights from across Europe, Great Britain and USA joining us.

 

Great weather on the Saturday ensured that the ride outs were well supported and showed Scotland’s scenery at its best. After a long day in the saddle having ridden to either Isle of Skye, Jon O’Groats, Ullapool or one of our many distilleries, our guests were entertained by The Queens Own Highlanders Association Pipes & Drum Band, which some of the local residents also turned out to enjoy. After the formal piping was finished, we arranged for our American guest to play a couple of songs with some of the pipers. Tim Lambert had travelled from Colorado

(check what Chapter Tim belongs to) to join the Rally and is a keen piper for various bands in the US.

 

A number of our guests seem to particularly enjoy the masterclass on the “water of life” (whisky for the uninitiated). This was led by one of our Scottish Brothers, Ewan Skinner, and proved to be a real hit with those who attended.

 

Now having plied our guests with alcohol, it was time for the auction to help raise  money for our chosen charities. Our guests proved to be generous with their bids and the auction proved a real success. This with other fund raising activities has allowed us to make significant donations to COPS, RMP and Cancer Research.

 

So all in all a great weekend with friends new and old, promoting safe riding, having fun and doing good by raising money for worthy causes. A huge thank you to all those who attended and ensured the Rally’s success.

 

Still high on the success of the 20th Anniversary Rally, we are already starting to arrange our next one, which we plan to be held somewhere special and a real crowd puller.
